We made mosquito protection beautiful.

Getaway Kimonos began with a simple Minnesota moment.

One of those perfect warm weather evenings  — the sun dipping low, the water calm, the air finally cooling off. And then, right on cue, the mosquitoes arrive. Like so many families, we reached for the same sprays and lotions we’d used since childhood, layering on protection and hoping for the best.

It sparked a question:
Why hasn’t mosquito protection evolved?

A Better Way to Stay Outside

Founder Barb Owen-Boerger grew up near Rainy Lake on the Minnesota–Ontario border and now calls Detroit Lakes, Minnesota home. She loves lake life, travel and time outdoors — but she didn’t love how often mosquitoes decided when the evening was over.

She wasn’t trying to create insect-repellent clothing that became the outfit.
She wanted something women would already love to wear — and simply make it smarter.

So, she reimagined a warm-weather staple: the lightweight wrap.
